Review

This is not so much a thriller (as it’s advertised), but more a horror-“lite”, a black comedy with as well a stylish setting as some surprising, very bloody gore. The narrative is rather simple, halfway into the movie it does have a major plot-twist, but from then on it rolls very one-dimensionally towards its uninventive ending, without the usual extra twists and turns that one would expect in such a story.

The main characters are two very elegant, high-fashioned and extremely unscrupulous ladies, and I guess the contrast between their posh looks and their almost joyfully executed violence is the main asset of this movie. It sure is fun to watch for a while, and it raises many chuckles, but in due course you feel a lack of some extra layers in the storyline, it’s rather disappointing to see how several potentially interesting twists go to waist or get totally neglected (like the food delivery guy getting on to them, or the two prisoners escaping and taking the girls in turn captive, or whatever an inventive writer would have been able to come up with), now it sort of goes out with an amusing but still somwhat deflative puff after 83 minutes.

On the good side: Olivia Culpo and Francesca Eastwood do an absolutely great job and are a joy to watch!
